Roadside Romeo 2008
Roadside Romeo is a forthcoming Bollywood animated film that will have Saif Ali Khan
and Kareena Kapoor with their voices to animated characters for the first time.
This will be the first animated film that is an India-U.S. co-production of Yash Raj
Films and the Walt Disney Company. The film will utilize state-of-the-art
computer-animation technology done entirely in India as well as feature music, dances,
songs and romance just like any other film produced by Yash Raj Films. Roadside Romeo
is scheduled to release on October 24, 2008 and will be produced by Aditya Chopra and
Yash Chopra under Yash Raj Films.
Synopsis
In Roadside Romeo a rich, cool, spoiled brat of a dog is abandoned on the wicked
streets of Mumbai. He faces situations he has never faced before. He is confronted
by dangerous, loony characters, the likes of which he has never met before. From
mansions to streets From five course meals to five courses of scraps From soft beds
to piles of garbageFrom champagne to tap water Hop on to the adventure as Romeo
turns into Roadside Romeo.
Written and directed by Debutante Jugal Hansraj, who acted in Bollywood films such
as Mohabbatein and Salaam Namaste, Roadside Romeo is the first animated film that
is an India-U.S. co-production of Yash Raj Films and the Walt Disney Company.
Production
The entire project has been executed at Visual Computing Labs (VCL), a division of
TATA Elxsi Ltd. VCL has been involved right from visual conceptualisation, character
design to animation & final output. This is the first time that a 3D animated
mainstream feature film of this magnitude is coming out of India.
